Designation of Heart Attack and Stroke Centers
Wyoming Statute 35-2-101 states The Department of Health shall establish by rule and regulation the process for recognition and designation of hospitals as:
- Heart Attack Receiving Centers
- Heart Attack Referring Centers
- Comprehensive Stroke Centers
- Primary Stroke Centers
Initial Application Process
The complete process can be found in Chapter 13 of the rules and regulations. Any hospital desiring recognition under this rule shall complete the following application process as described briefly below. Prior to initiation of an accreditation process with an independent agency, hospitals will submit a Letter of Intent to the Office of Emergency Medical Services declaring the following:
- The category of accreditation and recognition being sought;
- The anticipated accrediting agency;
- The expected time frame of completion;
- Contact Information for the designated person with oversight of the hospital’s accreditation process.
Upon receiving recognition by an accrediting agency the hospital will provide to the Office of Emergency Medical Services:
- A Letter of completion of the accreditation process from the facility to the department;
- A completed facility designation application;
- Copies of documentation establishing the successful completion of the accreditation process and recognition by the accrediting agency, including by not limited to, certificates, letters or other means provided by the accrediting agency;
- Copies of agreements required under Section 7 of Chapter 13;
- Other documentation may be required by the Office of Emergency Medical Services.
