2016-2020 Child Health Program Priorities
Every five years, the Maternal and Child Health Unit is required to perform a statewide needs assessment to determine Wyoming’s health priorities for women, infants, and children including those with special health care needs.
Prevent Childhood Injury
During 2016-2020, the Child Health Program aims to reduce the number of children being hospitalized due to unintentional injury with the overall goal of reducing Wyoming’s child mortality rate.
Promote Preventive and Quality Care in Children
During 2016-2020, The Child Health Program aims to increase the percent of Wyoming children (9-35 months) who received a developmental screening. This will be done in part through the promotion of the American Academy of Pediatrics Bright Futures guidelines.
Prevent Childhood obesity and Promote physical activity
During 2016-2020, The Child Health Program aims to Increase the percent of Wyoming children (6-11 years) who are physically active at least 60 minutes per day.
