WDH is collecting information from providers on their use of the PAL and needs related to providing mental health care to children and adolescents. Enrolling helps us identify and support provider needs to improve pediatric mental health care services in Wyoming.
Established in partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital to support doctors, nurse practitioners, therapists and social workers, the Wyoming Partnership Access Line is your direct line to a psychiatric consultation for any pediatric patient in Wyoming (ages 0–19), regardless of their insurance status.

The PAL line accepts calls Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. MST.
The phone consultation is covered by HIPAA, section 45 CFR 164.506; no additional release of patient information is required to consult by phone.
About the Wyoming Partnership Access Line (PAL)
Staffed by child and adolescent psychiatrists, and funded by the Wyoming Department of Health, the Wyoming Partnership Access Line (PAL) supports pediatric providers (doctors, nurse practitioners, therapists, social workers) with questions about mental health care—including diagnostic clarification, medication adjustment or treatment planning.
Any Wyoming provider can call the PAL for any pediatric patient in Wyoming (ages 0–19), regardless of their insurance status!
What happens when you call the PAL?
You’ll be connected with a PAL child and adolescent psychiatrist, affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital, who can answer your general or patient-specific questions related to:
- Mental health care
- Diagnostic clarification
- Medication adjustment
- Treatment planning
- Child psychiatry
If needed, you can also speak with a master’s-level social worker for help finding mental health resources to support your patients.

Is it appropriate to call PAL when my patient is in crisis?
If your patient is in crisis, call 911.
If your patient is not in imminent danger, PAL consultants are available to discuss best practices for treatment and support.
Can families call the PAL line?
No. The PAL line is a consult service for pediatric providers (doctors, nurse practitioners, therapists, social workers) only.
Consulting with families directly is outside the scope of the PAL’s service, and families will be redirected to their care team for assistance.
Do I need to get my patient’s consent before calling PAL?
No, you do not need patient authorization or consent to call PAL.
No bill or payment is collected for a PAL call, so no financial consent is needed.
Provider-to-provider consultation is covered within the boundaries of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Who can request a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) psychiatric evaluation?
MDT evaluations may be requested by Wyoming DFS caseworkers and pediatric providers working with WYhealth.

Is the child required to be present for the MDT evaluation?
Yes; the psychiatrist needs to interact with the patient to get a better sense of their needs.
When will the final report on the MDT evaluation be ready?
Generally, the report will be sent via secure email within 5 business days of the evaluation.
For which holidays will PAL be closed?
PAL is closed on all federal holidays.
Trainings and Conferences
PAL conferences are free to attend and offer free CME credit. Registration opens two months in advance, and events will be added as dates and locations are announced.
