This assessment is more than a collection of data. It is an opportunity to better understand the strengths and needs of MCH populations in the context of their communities, the systems and services they have access to, and what policies shape the distribution of resources and opportunities that allow them to thrive. This assessment moves away from the “portrait” view of individual behavior and health status to the “landscape” view of how health is influenced by other factors. This assessment informed our five-year priorities and performance measures, and we hope it will also serve as a resource for community and MCH leaders across the state to inform local action as well.
