To help hospitals and private providers meet Federally mandated Meaningful Use Critera, the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Unit has made available syndromic surveillance and electronic laboratory reporting.
The Wyoming Department of Health uses Health Monitoring Systems (HMS) EpiCenter for all syndromic surveillance activities. The Department requires Wyoming hospitals and non-hospital eligible providers to contract with HMS for submission of syndromic surveillance data to meet Meaningful Use criteria.

Electronic Laboratory Reporting
Wyoming currently has two connection options for ELR.
The first is a direct connection from the hospital EMR to the WDH notifiable disease data system. The second option is a connection from the hospital EMR to the WDH Total Health Record (THR). ELR data is then routed from the THR to the notifiable disease data system.
There is no charge from WDH to the facility for either connection option.
