Gambling becomes a problem when it compromises, disrupts or damages any major area of life, such as job, financial, or personal.
Problem gambling is characterized by the inability to resist the impulse to gamble, even when there are negative consequences. In extreme cases, problem gambling can result in financial ruin, legal problems, loss of career and family, or even suicide.
