The Public Health Preparedness and Response (PHPR) Unit strengthens preparedness and integrates federal, state, tribal, private sector, non-governmental organizations, and local public health responses to pandemics, natural disasters, terrorism, and other public health emergencies. Program activities are designed to develop emergency-ready public health departments.

The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Response team procures and warehouses supplies and PPE for public health responses, including ventilators, N95s, nitrile gloves, testing supplies, and more. The Response team works with the Medical Countermeasures Coordinator to receive, store, and ship assets from the Strategic National Stockpile. During a public health emergency, the Response team serves as both the Logistics and Operations sections.
