What is a Vital Record?
A vital record includes birth, death, stillbirth, marriage, divorce records, and related data. Records are registered with the registrar of the county in which the event happened, and then are filed with the state.

Our office provides certified copies of birth, marriage, death and divorce certificates for events occurring in Wyoming.
Important Advice About Using Birth Certificates to Get a Driver’s License

Location
Our office is at 2300 Capitol Ave in Cheyenne on the first floor of the Hathaway Building, Room 171. The building is located 100 yards south of the Wyoming State Capitol and is across the street from the Wyoming Supreme Court Building. Enter the building at the main entrance (look for the statue of former Wyoming Governor Stan Hathaway) and after a few steps turn right to find the office entrance. Please note counter service hours listed above.
Vital Statistics and Reports
Vital Statistics Services offers interesting data for the public to review. Most are in the form of annual reports of Wyoming births, deaths, marriages and divorces. Provisional quarterly data for very recent years can also be reviewed.

Birth records are on file since July 1909. Death records are on file since July 1909. Marriage and divorce records are on file since May 1941.
Birth Records
After 100 years from the date of the event, birth certificates can be obtained by anyone providing enough information to locate the record.
Death, Marriage, and Divorce Records
After 50 years from the date of the event death, marriage, and divorce records may be obtained by anyone providing enough information to locate the record in question.
State Archives
Birth records more than 100 years old and any death, marriage, and divorce records that are 50 years old should be obtained through Wyoming State Archives if a Certified copy of the record is NOT needed.
