Wyoming Department of Health Hosts Free Webinar to Observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

In observance of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), the Wyoming Department of Health is hosting a free, public virtual webinar on June 15, 2026, from 1 pm to 3 pm. The event aims to educate the community on how to recognize, report, and prevent the neglect, abuse, and exploitation of older adults.

Every year, millions of older adults face some form of abuse, ranging from physical neglect to complex financial scams. As these threats evolve, community awareness remains the strongest defense.

“Elder abuse is an underreported issue, and it is our collective responsibility to look out for our most vulnerable neighbors. This webinar will provide information for the community on how to safeguard older adults in our communities,” said Patricia Hall, Wyoming’s State Long Term Care Ombudsman.

The webinar is free and open to everyone 18 years and older, with no registration required. Community members, caregivers, social workers, and older adults are highly encouraged to attend.
