New Online Tool to Help People Find Naloxone Launched by the Wyoming Department of Health
April 16, 2026
The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) is excited to announce the Community Naloxone Resource Map. This new online tool makes it easier for people to find naloxone at no cost in their local communities.
Naloxone, often known by the brand name Narcan®, is a life-saving drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. Given through the nose, naloxone helps a person breathe normally again if their breathing has slowed or stopped due to an opioid overdose, buying vital time until emergency medical responders arrive. It is designed to be easy to use for family, friends, or bystanders.
“Having naloxone on hand can prevent an opioid overdose death,” says Rachel Nuss, Community Prevention Unit Manager. “We recommend that anyone keep this tool in their first aid kit. By mapping out the groups across Wyoming that provide naloxone, our goal is to make it easier for individuals to find it at no cost.”
