Department Announces New Behavioral Health Division Leadership
January 14, 2020
The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) is announcing new leadership for its Behavioral Health Division.
WDH Director Michael Ceballos recently named Matt Petry as senior administrator for the Behavioral Health Division effective February 1.
The Behavioral Health Division includes Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Services, the Early Intervention and Education Program, the Wyoming Life Resource Center in Lander and the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston.
“We are fortunate to have someone with such depth of experience joining our team in this key role at the department,” Ceballos said.
Petry has been the deputy director and chief financial officer of the Wyoming Community College Commission since 2008. His background also includes financial and management experience with the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office, the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities and other private and public entities, as well as healthcare administration experience with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and other businesses.
Petry replaces Heather Babbitt, who has served as interim senior administrator since last July. Babbitt will remain with the Behavioral Health Division as deputy administrator.
Stefan Johansson, the department’s deputy director, will continue providing state-level, day-to-day supervision of the Wyoming Life Resource Center and the Wyoming State Hospital until a transition plan is determined.
