Prediabetes
Prediabetes means that your blood sugar is higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. Prediabetes may result in type 2 diabetes if left ignored. Prediabetes is also linked to heart disease and stroke.
Without intervention, 15-30% of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years.

Diabetes Prevention Programs
Type 2 diabetes can be prevented and prediabetes can be reversed by making lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. Diabetes Prevention Programs meet once a week for 16 weeks, and then once a month for 6 months to maintain healthy lifestyle changes.
Lifestyle coaches will teach and guide you through a better understanding of managing stress, eating healthier, getting enough exercise, and other ways to reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. To find out more contact the nearest Diabetes Prevention Program to you or ask your doctor about starting an online CDC Diabetes Prevention Program.
