Wyoming Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
The Wyoming BRFSS (Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System) is an ongoing statewide telephone survey of adults age 18 and older. The purpose of the survey is to gather information on the prevalence of health behaviors and conditions which are known to contribute to or increase the risk of chronic disease, acute illness, injury, disability and premature death. Wyoming is one of 50 states and several territories funded and supported through the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct BRFSS
Adult Tobacco Survey (ATS)
The ATS is a standardized telephone survey of adult tobacco use, cessation, knowledge and attitudes that is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The survey was administered for the first time in Wyoming in 2002. Although we know prevalence rates of tobacco use from other Wyoming surveys, such as the BRFSS, this survey assesses the knowledge and attitudes of tobacco and cessation data. Evaluating adult tobacco use and cessation is critical to helping to reduce smoking-related morbidity and mortality and limiting exposure to secondhand smoke
