Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program
Overview
Effective February 1, 2006 the cardiovascular disease prevention program officially changed its name to the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (HDSP) Program. This was accomplished to include stroke prevention in the title as well as conform with multiple other states in the name change. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has launched a new division with the same name.
The Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program works to prevent, detect, and monitor cardiovascular disease and stroke within Wyoming. The program provides cardiovascular health promotion and disease prevention programs to communities as well as healthcare providers. The program focuses on primary prevention where related risk factors are addressed including physical activity, nutrition, elevated blood pressure, and elevated blood cholesterol.
