Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program

The Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program oversees the surveillance and control of infectious diseases throughout the state including: food and waterborne diseases (E. coli, giardia, etc.), vaccine-preventable diseases (pertussis, bacterial meningitis, etc.), zoonotic diseases (plague, Q-fever, etc.), and vectorborne diseases (West Nile virus, Colorado tick fever, etc.). The program responds to and investigates clusters and outbreaks of illnesses. It also provides analytic and medical consultations for healthcare providers statewide.

A toll-free hotline (1-877-996-9000) has been established by Epidemiology Section staff to respond to telephone calls from providers and public health staff during normal working hours.
In addition, a toll-free hotline (1-888-996-9104) is available for calls regarding public health emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
