Wyoming Sun Safe Schools
As part of our ongoing efforts to bring Wyoming citizens critical information concerning their health, the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) in conjunction with the Wyoming Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (WCCCP) would like to announce its interest in collaborating with the schools in the state of Wyoming to increase skin cancer prevention programs statewide.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States to date. Ironically, it is also the most preventable. Unprotected sun exposure during childhood is the leading risk factor for skin cancer. Schools can play a vital role in helping prevent skin cancer since children spend a large amount of the sun’s peak hours at school. The WCCCP invites you to participate in our efforts to protect children form the overexposure to the sun by creating and supporting school environments that promote sun safety and help prevent skin cancer.
