Substance Abuse Standards
In the spring of 2008, the Division set out to form a committee to revise the substance abuse rules. This committee was comprised of Division staff, funded and non-funded providers, stakeholders, consumers, and sub-committees. The committee diligently labored to combine Chapter 14: Rules and Regulations for State Funding and Certification of Drug Courts, Chapter 16: Rules and Regulations for Substance Abuse Standards , and Chapter 17: Rules and Regulations for Provision of Substance Abuse Services to the Criminal Justice Population . Several public meetings were held twice throughout the state to gather public input prior to the rules being considered ready for submission to the promulgation process. The rules were submitted for promulgation on August 11, 2009 and were adopted by the State of Wyoming on December 11, 2009.
These rules will go into effect for certified providers on January 1, 2010. All certified providers will have six months to work toward compliance within the new standards. On July 1, 2010, all providers will be held accountable to the new standards.
The Division would like to thank all of those who participated in and provided input for the revision of these rules.
