Dr. David Friedman’s:  “The Biology of Addiction and Public Policy” Presentation

Last September, a group of fellow legislators and executive branch representatives had the pleasure of participating in the Addiction Studies Program sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and the Treatment Research Institute.  The goal of the Academy was to provide education and information that is grounded in latest reliable science, and to facilitate understanding of addiction as it pertains to decision making.  The Wyoming team believes that the educational information presented at the Academy was extremely beneficial and we invited one of the presenters, Dr. David Friedman, to speak on “The Biology of Addiction and Public Policy.”

On February 18, 2008, Dr. Friedman gave his presentation on the biology of addiction and its impact on public policy to legislators and others.  The legislature representing the citizens of Wyoming has substantially increased the resources for substance abuse treatment.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to review Dr. Friedman’s presentation and learn more about addiction and the brain science behind addiction from one the top experts in the field
