Wyoming Leadership Academy
Nine consumer advocacy organizations are sponsoring the 2008 Leadership Academy. The Academy is for people in recovery for mental health and/or substance abuse issues and for their families.
On January 22, eighteen people met in Casper to learn more about community-based boards of directors. A highlight of the meeting was a visit from Senator Charles Scott. Senator Scott encouraged consumers to be active with the legislative process and with their local decision making. He noted that several legislators have been directly affected by mental illness or substance abuse. As a citizen legislature, it is important to have the voice of consumers and all citizens. The evaluations were positive and encouraged future academies. Click here to view the evaluation comments.
There are two more opportunities to participate. Registration is encouraged. (Click to download the forms and to learn more.)
