2009 Wyoming Conference On Aging

The Aging Division and the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Division of the Wyoming Department of Health have been working collaboratively to plan the 2009 Wyoming Conference on Aging. This year’s conference will be held at the Holiday Inn in Cheyenne, Wyoming on May 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2009.

Topics this year include Older Adults and Mental Health, Falls Prevention, Cultural Competency, Aging Etiquette, Health Care Reform, Care giving, Emergency Preparedness, Older Adults and Substance Abuse, Long Term Care Planning, and the Economic Recession and Effects on Retirement, and Financial Exploitation, just to name a few.

 

Our Keynote Speaker during our banquet this year will be Olympic Athlete Bruce Jenner, who will be discussing issues relating to Health and Physical Fitness as we age, as well as his own experiences as a Caregiver for his aging parents.

 

Conference Cost  

Older Adults (60 years of age and over)  Registration $85 (Includes Banquet with Keynote Address)

Other Participants Registration $125 (Includes Banquet with Keynote Address)

BANQUET Only – Keynote Speaker Bruce Jenner Registration $50

Medications and Older Adults

9:00 – 10:00    Medication Impacts on the Aging Body

10:00 – 11:30    Health Advocacy Workshop

11:30 – 12:00    Panel Discussion (Question & Answers – Wrap Up)         

 The first hour is a didactic lecture presentation.  The next 1.5 hours is a small group workshop with a variety of activities, and the last 30 minutes is reserved to address any unanswered questions.
